Hotel stay in Abu Dhabi set to become more expensive from June 1
Hotels in Abu Dhabi will start charging its guests a municipal tax of 4% of their hotel bill and an additional AED 15 per night with effect from June 1, 2016, according to the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport as well as the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).
Claiming that the new fees is in line with the charges imposed on hotel guests in other regional destinations and is a standard practice in the hospitality services sector worldwide, TCA Abu Dhabi said it will soon hold worshops to introduce the fee collection and deposit mechanisms.
Until now, the hotel guests in the capital were paying a 6% city tax and a 10% service charge for their stay.
